People Always Leave

Waow! Like seriously?? This year alone at least five of my colleagues will be travelling abroad for career advancement and for some of us who get easily attached to people, its usually a bit of struggle.
I remember the first time a close friend of mine  travelled for his Masters program. He did not inform me until a week before he travelled and i was definitely shaken by it.
Daniel happened to be a very good friend of mine that we shared/share thots together a lot. He was very casual about it and he told me that he would be back in one year and that he was only six hours away. That helped a lot coupled with constant exchange of mails and all but its been over five years now. Daniel finished his maters, got a job and a beautiful wife and is still in the UK.....

Then there was Desola. Again, she also shocked me by telling few weeks before depature. Not like i saw Desola so often after graduation but the thought of not even bumping into her at all maybe ever again was kinda depressing! I remember when she called me to tell me she was at the airport, how i bursted into tears before i could bid her a proper farewell..Again facebook and few calls did the trick but now my darling Desola is back and better...

Mosunmola joined the train this month. Mosun is an effortlessely natural person, humble and easy to get along with so everytime we had to go on training, we were roomates. Now i have to scout for a new room mate for our trainings. Mosun's depature was a lot easier for me because she told me long before she left so i always had it at the back of my mind that she will leave and when she eventually did, it didnt hit me so hard. I am trusting on our bb chats to do the trick this.Go do us proud dearie.

Now its Adams!! My area father!!!. Even though we were first and foremost colleagues, first time we got talking one on one was  at a brt bus pack. Adams had no idea i did not know who he was other than the fact that i  knew his face is familiar. I did not even know his name! But thanks to the BRT's inefficiences and the rising demand for their services,  we had more than half an hour to talk so i was able to decode that he was one of my bossess at work. Here i was at the BRT pack,no cufflinks on my shirt, and scarf not properly knotted worse of all i got to d park late so i thought i may be in trouble with my boss seeing me this way...How wrong i was...Adams became a very good friend of mine, waited at the bus park to pick me up and dropped me off at work.He is  always willing to helppp. He has what people will refer to as a large heart. If i had issues at work, before i think of 3 people i can confide in, Adams will make the list...Now he is also leaving...

So also is Saheed, Adura,Oluchi all easy going and intelligent people...

For me i have learnt to always look at the brighter side of it all, they are going to be better people out there and i can only pray that God sees them through the giant strides they are about to take, keep us all together and make our subsequent meetings a happy one! You all go make us proud.I'll miss you so much.

One lesson i learnt over the years first from 'One Tree Hill'( one of my favourite season movies) and seondly as i grow up is that

 PEOPLE ALWAYS LEAVE!!!

Federal Government says they suspended Dana Air licence in error

Even in my place of work, my superiors keep telling me that there zero tolerance rate for errors.

So for Federal Government to say that they suspended the airline whose aircraft crashed and lead to

loosing of life of over 150 citizens in error??

The families of the bereaved are still in pains and complaining about the lifing of the ban which

maybe by standard and reasons given by the aviation minister just maybe its in order, as a leader,

there are some things that are either not said at all, said with caution or paraphrased or deferred for a

more appropriate time...

What power will 'power' give?

Following the recent development in Nigeria's power sector and the generation of as much as 4,420 mega watts of elcetricity, one would expect that Nigerians should start feeling the positive impact of this new development other than the domestic use of electricity and the noiseless and peaceful neighbourhood.

Manufacturers of goods  who have always nailed high cost of these products on power supply hopefully will be relieved and we hope that the prices of goods will start reducing amongst a host of other benefits to be enjoyed.

However, as with most development programs in Nigeria, continuity will be a major decider of if any benefit and how much of it will accrue to Nigerians.
We are hoping and watching.

Just like yesterday, its been one year since i started work.
Congratulations to everyone of us who clocked one year at work. Work started towards the end of the year and it sure was a blessed way to end the year!
Amongst the very many lessons learnt is the fact that what we sell is knowledge so how much you are appreciated depends on how much you know so  learning never stops!

An Humble Begining in January

Its been even more than a while!

I can't believe i haven't posted anything on this blog since this year began and i claim to love writing.

Truth is i love to write but i have been very busy and limited by resources which  time, internet

connection to   mention a few. This year has been such an eventful year for me...So many ups and

downs just exactly  the way life is and i hope to share some of the eventful events that happened in

the year 2012 starting  with January.

January started with prayers, appreciations, wishes, aspirations, projections, expectations, hope ,

redirections, resolutions... i could go on and on..

The eventful event i can vividly remember for the month of January however was the increasing rate

of robbery incidence in my area. When people were hoping and aspiring and changing directions,

some men of the underworld were working hard to strip innocent inhabitants of their belongings.

Week after week we heard of one robbery incidence or the other, sometimes four to five houses were

visited in one night..

So i do not go on and on boring you about what these armed men do, let me digress a little bit and

talk about this neighbour friend of ours. Populary called 'Baba Basira' (father of Basira) which is the

norm in yoruba parlance having had Basira as his first child, the name automatically sticks.

Baba Basira is a bricklayer who i heard built our house. Other than passing by and greeting Baba

Basira as a neighbour, the only things i knew about him were what i observed from a distance and of

that few, he happens to be a very hardworking person. He promptly responded to calls and renders

services for which he was paid in record time which is a rare characteristics of our unskilled/semi

skilled workers in this part of the world.

I took a liking to Baba Basira when my dad complained of back ache and requested that Baba Basira

helped him pluck some leaves in the neighbourhood which was believd to be used as  a local cure.

Baba Basira was back in less than 30 minutes with the leaves and i just naturally took a liking too

him and his selflessness so everytime i passed by his house, i always made it a point of duty to greet.

Baba Basira's wife sells just outside his house and in the evenings when he is back from his own

business, he helps his wife with sales as that is usually a peak period for her.

On a particular Saturday, as usual, Baba Basira was just outside his house seated behind a bottle of

drink and fried meat enjoying a good time with his friend and neighbour aroud 8pm when armed

robbers struck asking that their phones and cash items be dropped. Sources say that his neighbour

slapped one of the robbers oblivious of the fact that they were armed and as Baba Basira made a

move to run away from the scene of the robbery he was gunned down!!!

Everyone in the area had taken to different directions for fear of their lives and it was not until after

the robbers had left and people were inquiring about Baba Basira's whereabout that they realise that

he had been shot. Quickly a bus was gotten and he was rushed to a nearby  hospital only to be

confirmed by the hospital as being brought in dead. He didnt make it to the hospital.

A father, grandfather, neighbour, helper and friend lost his life in the wake of the year without falling

ill or having an accident. Everytime i pass by Baba Basira's house which is almost on a daily basis, i

remember how he died, wondered what pain his family must be going through, why the robbers had

to do that, what his fate is in the grave, how it could have been anybody else, how it is not everyone

that sees the light of a new day sees the dust of the same day......so many thoughts, so many lessons..

That was a significant happening in my own January...Really an humble begining

Another significant happening in January is the birth of Khadijah Adenekan, fondly called princess by her mum, the bundle of joy arrived on Friday 27th of January 2012.
This is to Mr and Mrs Adenekan..Congrats. on the birth of your baby girl. May she be the coolness of your eyes at all times.

will be glad to know how your own January went though...
